Distinctly Average is an idea that emerged from the warmth of an ink-splattered heat-tunnel in a small screen printing studio in Dalston, London in 2014.

In a world where the dominant narrative is ‘extreme is always good’, and everyone and everything is always claiming to be ’the best’, it felt like time to remember all there is to relish in the ordinary, the imperfect, the everyday, and in that awesome space between the extremes.

We believe that everyone would be happier if they obsessed less about perfection, superlatives and other people’s definition of ‘success’. We want to champion the things closer to the middle than the ends, take happiness notes from animals, and enjoy basking in the simple pleasures of life.

These beliefs inspire designs that are brought to life on stuff you can wear. We’re driven by the same idea that came out of the screen printing studio back in 2014 but now products are DTG (direct to garment) printed on-demand to minimise waste and increase the availability of designs, styles and colours.
